SAT Prep in Dr. Phillips, Florida

Providing your child with the perfect place in which to study is a great way to ensure that they make the most out of their allotted study time and, as a result, flourish academically. Today, The Tutoring Center in Orlando would like to provide a few tips on how to achieve this.

Pick the right spot

Choosing the right spot is a question of identifying your child’s needs. Are they a solitary learner, or do they work better knowing people are around? Do they work best in total silence, or would they benefit from a little background noise? Make sure to bear these in mind when picking a spot, but also make sure it isn’t too hot or too cold, and it’s best to avoid picking a spot that a lot of people will be passing directly through, as this will act as a distraction.

Make it comfy

Make sure their study space is comfortable by providing a desk of the right height and an ergonomic chair. Desks should be at around waist height, and your child should be able to sit in the chair and write without hunching their back. If the study space is going to include a computer or your child will be using a laptop, make sure the screen is at the right height and angle so that they do not hunch or crane their neck to look at it.

Stock it and keep it organized

Provide the resources your child needs for their studies (pens, paper, etc.), but also make sure to provide designated places in which to keep all of these. Not being able to find necessary supplies can be a big distraction, so encourage your child to stay organized.

Block out distractions

Establish some ground rules about using the study space (no cell phones, no social networking, etc.) and make sure that if the TV is visible from their seat that it stays switched off. Make sure not to distract your child yourself, too!
